Every choreographer at I.Dance is dedicated to inspire each student with knowledge, technique, love, passion, and their respect for dance. I.Dance was featured on the July 2009 issue of Dance Teacher Magazine with Bette White Fernandez.

Dancette Pratts
Dancette Pratts, Studio DirectorDancette is a former Bette White student who is now a professional dancer and choreographer. With over 20 years dance experience, she has her own unique styles of tap, jazz, salsa, hip-hop, and praise dancing. She has been featured in many magazines including Dance Teacher Magazine and Dance Spirit Magazine for her outstanding work.

Dancette has performed in large venues such as MTV, Madison Square Garden, PNC Arts Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Beacon Theater, World Changers Church New York, as well as 3121 in Las Vegas with Prince.

Dancette has also been featured in many billboards and has led many dance competition teams, often winning first place. She has likewise traveled from New Jersey to China, showcasing her talents and skills.

Dee Dee MaylandDeeDee Mayland is a graduate of Montclair State University, where she earned her B.A. in Health Education with a minor in Dance. DeeDee was awarded a Fellowship to study at the Ailey School in 1998 and a scholarship to attend the New Jersey Governor’s School of the Arts in 1999. She danced professionally with modern dance company Julia Ritter Performance Group from 2002-2006, touring internationally to Toronto and Prague. DeeDee is currently on faculty at Marylawn Academy of the Oranges teaching Dance, Health, and Physical Education. Prior teaching credits include Columbia High School (Maplewood, NJ) and High Tech High School (North Bergen, NJ), and master classes at various locations throughout Connecticut and New York for the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists (NADAA).

 

WizWiz (Break Dancer/Choreographer) started his career as a B-Boy in 1999 in his hometown, New York City. It all started by him watching the local kids in his neighborhood with their different styles and techniques. He was also inspired by watching and studying classic B-Boy movies such as Beat Street, Breakin, and Wild Style. He decided to pursue the NYC B-Boy scene by attending competitions all over the tri-state area. Around 2002 Wiz stepped into the performance / entertainment scene through out NJ/NY with his crews and several dance companies. He has been teaching throughout the tri-state area since 2005 from kids through adults of all ages.

 

Teeni CatoneChristina Catone "Teeni" has 18 years of dance experience in lyrical,jazz,contemporary,hiphop,ballet,and pointe. She been trained under Dancette fro hiphop,tap,and salsa and Lu Cuadra in Hiphop. Teeni have been a competitive dancer for over 10 years and have performed with such artist as Psyche of Sound, Los Productivos at Ritz Theatre,Mister Chase- Video for “Addicted”, and now a Bergen Hawkettes Semi- Pro Football Team dancer/cheerleader last but not least a Sweet 16 Coordinator. She is now a Senior at Kean University for Fulfilling degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and English.

 

Leslie RoaLeslie Rosa has joined the staff bringing her background in modern dance from her college studies, and shares her love and spirit of dance with the home school students. Leslie 's routines and choreography lead into Top over all scores in competition and 1st places.

 

  • What age can my child start dance lessons?
    2 1/2 years old.

  • Do you have any adult lessons?
    Yes, but we don't have many adults enrolled. If we get enough people (minimum of four people) we definitely will open a class. Starting on January 2009 we will have adult SALSA classes on Tuesday from 8 - 9 pm.

  • What do I need to start dance class?
    Come in and register, purchase necessary uniform, make a costume deposit and, above all, bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

  • When is tuition due and when does tuition end?
    Monthly Tuition is due on or before the 14th of each month and monthly tuition is from September - May.

  • What about refunds?
    There are no refunds. Exchanges only.

  • How many times a week is each class?
    Each class is once a week, unless you enroll in more than one class.

  • Is there a show at the end of the year?
    Yes. It's usually held in mid-June.

  • Are uniforms necessary?
    Yes.

  • If my child misses a class can she get a make up?
    Yes, at the teacher's discretion. If we close the school or class is canceled a make up date will be posted on this website.

  • How can I get my child into the I Dance Company Performance Team?
    Students are invited based on their ability to catch on quickly, showmanship, and their dedication in class.

  • Do you have any adult lessons?
    Yes! We have Zumba classes on Fridays at 6:45 PM and 8 PM during the summer. The Zumba schedule for fall will be announced.
